We're elated!

Our first self-published book, When the Circus Comes to Town and Other Stories, has been selected for inclusion in Best Books for Kids & Teens, Spring 2016. This means the book has been given two thumbs up by The Canadian Children’s Book Centre.

The Canadian Children’s Book Centre website (bookcentre.ca) explains that “expert committees of educators, booksellers, school and public librarians from across Canada” handpick materials for Best Books for Kids & Teens. Their selections then guide teachers, librarians, parents, and grandparents when they purchase books for classrooms, libraries, and home bookshelves. The committees look for “excellence in writing, illustration or performance” and, importantly, they focus on material that “will appeal to children and young adults.”

Funders and sponsors of The Canadian Children’s Book Centre include Prince Edward Island’s Education and Early Childhood Development, Prince Edward Island’s Tourism and Culture, The Canada Council for the Arts, the Toronto Dominion Bank, Canada Heritage, HarperCollins Canada Ltd., Simon & Schuster Canada, and amazon.ca.

Recognition from The Canadian Children’s Book Centre is important to us, and we appreciate it very much.

The inclusion of When the Circus Comes to Town and Other Stories in Best Books for Kids & Teens is a wonderful harbinger for Sisters Publishing, and for our titles yet to come.
